Day 1: Mombasa or Nairobi – Tsavo East

You will be picked up from your beach hotel/ Nairobi hotel in the early morning hours and depart by road to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. You will enjoy an amazing game drive along the way. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will have lunch, relax for a while and then head out for a game drive in the sanctuary searching for lion and other wildlife, until sunset. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at Salt Lick Lodge. This lodge is especially memorable for its imaginative structure. A complex of rondavel sit on stilts over a series of water holes. These two-story towers, topped by peaked thatch roofs connected by open-air-bridges, create an African fantasy of a medieval fortress. The lodge has been built with game viewing in mind. The structure provides you will a panoramic view of the sanctuary; offering spectacular views of the landscape and wildlife.

Full Day Game Drive in Taita Hills Game Sanctuary

Spend the whole day exploring the vast Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. This private sanctuary is located right next to Tsavo West, so it’s an easy hop to get here. The landscape in this park is more verdant than Tsavo, and the game viewing is every bit as good. The sanctuary offers good bird watching but that isn’t Taita Hills’ main attraction. A unique aspect of this small park is the rangers here usually have a very good idea where the larger animals can be found. It’s not unheard of for safari-goers to spot over a dozen species on a game drive.

Day 3: Depart Salt Lick to Nairobi / Mombasa

Have breakfast at the lodge, short game drive as you depart for Mombasa or Nairobi. Lunch will be provided along the way. Upon arrival in Mombasa/ Nairobi, you will be dropped off at your beach hotel/ Nairobi Hotel. This is where your safari will end.
